Job summary

Hitachi Rail invites applications for a Senior Systems Engineer in the UK, leading the design and delivery of scalable rail systems for bids and projects. You will mentor team members, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to meet customer requirements.

The role is hybrid, requiring at least two days per week in office locations such as London, Birmingham or Cheadle, with travel as bid demands dictate.

• Extensive experience in systems development and engineering principles.

• Strong stakeholder management and effective communication at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable systems solutions for bids and projects.
• Act as junior EDM and Work Package Manager, tracking progress and forecasting work.
• Gather requirements and define project scope with cross-functional teams.
• Provide input to architectural discussions and technology/tool recommendations.
• Document technical elements of business cases for variations and opportunities.
• Lead safety-focused design work in line with CDM regulations and risk management.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide independent peer review of system designs and adherence to processes.
