Job summary

WSP is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our UK rail/ infrastructure team. You will support major programmes, lead project tasks, and mentor Early Career Professionals within a collaborative consultancy environment.

The role requires a degree in engineering, Chartered status or near-term attainment, and experience delivering systems integration in rail projects. Proficiency with DOORS and MBSE is preferred, with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Chartered status with a relevant professional body, or ability to achieve chartered status soon.
• Post-degree experience delivering systems integration in rail environments.
• Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS) and techniques (MBSE).
• Experience in defining appropriate systems engineering approaches on projects.
• Experience leading others on systems engineering projects and/or tasks.
• Client-facing background or stakeholder engagement experience.
• Understanding of lifecycle stages and SE challenges across stages.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Innovative ideas for advancing systems engineering services.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams to solve complex integration problems on major infrastructure programmes.
• Lead tasks within projects or manage small projects with accountability.
• Demonstrate willingness to challenge and learn from clients and colleagues; mentor Early Career Professionals.
• Apply pragmatic systems thinking to define projects and reduce risk on large systems engineering assignments.
• Support interval team development activities focused on business and technical growth.
• Develop commercial awareness of your project within a consultancy environment.
