Job summary
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Medical Physics Specialist to lead parts of the radiotherapy treatment planning service. You will support a team of 26 treatment planners, help to deliver advanced planning, imaging, brachytherapy, radiobiology and radiation protection across sites.

Qualifications
- Registered Medical Physicist or eligible for MPE recognition.
- Experience with radiotherapy planning, imaging, brachytherapy, radiobiology and radiation protection.
- Experience in line management and teaching/training.
Responsibilities
- Lead aspects of the treatment planning service and provide physics support to the team of 26 planners.
- Support commissioning of new techniques and software upgrades; manage specific treatment sites.
- Contribute to a wide range of radiotherapy physics clinical and scientific services (planning, imaging, brachytherapy, radiobiology, radiation protection).
- Report and explain scientific & technical issues to the senior physics, radiographic, medical and managerial teams.
- Teach on Clinical Scientist and FRCR academic training courses and STP teaching programme; mentor staff.
