Job summary

SSE is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to drive delivery of high-value transmission projects across Scotland. You will manage development through delivery, coordinating interfaces between electrical, mechanical and civil disciplines, with a focus on design risk mitigation and on-time delivery.

Role requires mentoring engineers, coordinating with consultants/contractors, and ensuring CDM and ESQCR compliance. A driving licence is required for site visits. Hybrid working pattern offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards is desirable.
• Experience in Transmission or similar industry.
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support project teams in the development and delivery of transmission projects, providing leadership, coordination and ownership of interfaces between multiple technical disciplines.
• Collaborate with engineers and managers to identify and mitigate design risks for the pre-construction phase.
• Apply CDM procedures and regulatory requirements for substation and electrical system design.
• Prepare and coordinate design assurance reviews and Gate documentation for Large Capital Projects governance.
• Mentor and develop less experienced engineers and work with consultants/contractors to enable effective decision-making.

Education

Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering

Chartered Engineer status desirable
