Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Practitioner of Mathematics to join our successful and experienced Mathematics department. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom teacher to play a key role in improving teaching and learning, developing colleagues and helping shape the future direction of the department.

Our school was inspected in 2025 and remains Good following a Section 8 Ofsted inspection. Outcomes are consistently above national averages, behaviour is excellent and our community is supportive and ambitious for every student. New staff quickly become part of a welcoming and rewarding school where professional growth is valued and encouraged.

First and foremost, we are looking for an outstanding teacher of Mathematics with a genuine passion for the subject, high expectations and the ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues. You will be committed to helping every student succeed whilst supporting colleagues to continually develop their practice.

Working closely with the Head of Mathematics and Key Stage Leads, you will drive excellence in teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring, modelling exemplary practice and delivering high-quality subject-specific professional development. You will use assessment outcomes and quality assurance evidence to identify priorities, support improvement and help secure consistently strong classroom practice across the department.

The role includes supporting Early Career Teachers and trainee teachers, contributing to professional development, leading quality assurance activities and undertaking Performance Management responsibilities for designated staff.

You will be joining a highly successful department of 12 colleagues with a very low staff turnover, a strong team culture and a commitment to collaboration. Staff share resources, ideas and expertise freely, creating an environment in which both teachers and students thrive. In 2025-26, 78.6% of students achieved grades 9-4 in GCSE Mathematics and 29.3% achieved grades 9-7, placing the department 6.8 and 7.0 percentage points above national averages respectively.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Mathematics teacher who is passionate about improving classroom practice and developing others. The role offers the chance to make a significant impact on students, colleagues and the wider school, while providing excellent preparation for future senior leadership.
