We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, inspirational and committed Head of Mathematics to lead our Mathematics Department and play a key role in further raising standards, expectations and aspirations across the subject. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the vision, enthusiasm and leadership skills to develop both staff and students.

You will be passionate about Mathematics and committed to ensuring that all students experience success, make strong progress and develop confidence in the subject. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mathematics teacher who is ready to take the next step in their career, or for an established middle leader looking to further develop their leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

As Head of Mathematics, you will:

Set high expectations and ambitious targets for staff and students, ensuring strong standards of achievement across the department.

Provide effective leadership, support and direction to all teaching staff within the Mathematics Department.

Lead the development and implementation of an ambitious, engaging and coherent Mathematics curriculum that meets the needs of students of all abilities.

Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, providing appropriate support, challenge and professional development.

Use assessment and attainment data effectively to identify priorities and implement strategies that improve student progress and outcomes.

Lead departmental performance management and contribute to the professional development of colleagues.

Create a positive departmental culture in which staff feel supported, valued and confident in developing their practice.

Promote enthusiasm, confidence and a love of Mathematics among students and staff.

Ensure appropriate support and challenge for students with a wide range of needs and abilities.

Lead effective intervention and strategies to support students in achieving their potential.

Teach Mathematics across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE Mathematics.

Contribute positively to the wider life and development of the school.

To ensure a creative curriculum to suit a wide range of needs and abilities whilst offering a broad range of activities

To undertake performance management for your department

Create a climate which enables other staff to develop and maintain positive attitudes towards the subject and confidence in teaching it
