Job summary

The Open Golf is seeking a Lead People Operations Manager to own the People Operations function for The Open Championship. You will oversee planning, financial control, and onsite deployment of the hospitality and catering workforce at the event, ensuring an exceptional guest and worker experience in line with Absolute Taste and The R&A values.

Based in Bicester with travel to events, you will build rosters, manage onboarding, training, and payroll processes, and drive live staffing analytics

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of progressive People Operations management experience in high-volume environments such as major events, stadiums or large venues.
• Strong knowledge of recruitment activities and onboarding processes and employment law compliance.
• Commercially astute with financial capability in labour forecasting and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an end-to-end event resource plan for recruitment, onboarding, rostering, travel and staff deployment.
• Produce accurate financial forecasts for labour, training, expenses, travel and accommodation.
• Create staff rosters with the project team based on event demands and availability.
• Support operational leads in publishing and assigning shifts to casual, freelance and agency workers.
• Plan and lead on-site People Operations activities including accreditation, check-in, welfare, uniform distribution and general support.
• Direct the employee Reward and Recognition program for the event.
• Provide live staffing reports and labour spend data to keep project leads informed.
• Oversee post-event payroll processing and invoicing in line with policy.
• Conduct post-event analytics to evaluate timesheets against KPIs and identify improvements.
• Identify and implement process improvements to boost operational efficiency.
