Job summary

Egis is seeking an experienced lead for the OLE/OCS design team in the UK & Ireland. You will drive growth of the OLE design services, mentor engineers, and build strong client relationships while delivering high-quality outcomes across complex rail projects.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status, UK design standards knowledge, and a track record in CRE/CEM functions within major infrastructure. Occasional international collaboration and travel expected.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in a numerate, scientific or engineering subject or equivalent training/experience.
• Chartered Engineer membership or equivalent from a recognised institution (e.g., IMechE or IET).
• Understanding of multi-disciplinary design approach and delivering projects to high quality across gates.
• Experience as CRE/CEM in major infrastructure/transport projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively to deliver on time to programme.
• Project and team-running experience in UK consultancy, client, or contractor organisations.
• Experience in a global engineering production environment.
• Knowledge of UK/international design standards (Network Rail, HS2, EN).
• Strong BIM standards understanding, design integration, and relevant legislation.
• Strong health and safety knowledge (CDM) and Safe by Design principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead growth of the OLE design team and recruit/mentor staff.
• Drive sustainable growth and market position for OLE in rail.
• Maintain strong client relationships with senior-level engagement.
• Establish and maintain a professional OLE engineering team delivering high-quality services.
• Ensure on-time delivery of complex projects; provide senior intervention when needed.
• Act as OLE CRE and/or CEM in rail projects; oversee technical deliverables.
• Review and implement industry standards to ensure quality.
• Coordinate quality aspects per project Quality Management plan.
• Lead strategic oversight of Egis OLE engineering capabilities (resource planning, supplier strategy, recruitment).
• Define team competency and conduct professional reviews, training, mentoring.
