Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the technical delivery of mechanical engineering projects within our North West water team.

The role focuses on feasibility through commissioning of water and wastewater infrastructure, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with clients and construction partners. You will oversee design across treatment works, pumping stations and associated systems, ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes while

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng)
• Strong experience delivering detailed mechanical design within UK water sector
• Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary projects
• Excellent understanding of water & wastewater treatment processes and pumping systems
• Experience mentoring engineers and developing technical capability
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Deliver projects from feasibility through to commissioning and handover.
• Produce and review technical calculations, specifications and drawings.
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and develop engineers to raise technical capability.
• Collaborate with clients, PMs, contractors and supply chain partners to deliver outcomes.
• Support framework delivery, continuous improvement and business development activities.
