Job summary

Stantec in the UK is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead technical delivery of mechanical projects across the full lifecycle in a water sector context.

You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure designs meet quality, safety and sustainability standards while supporting AMP8 delivery. Based in Brighton, London, High Wycombe, Reading or Southampton with hybrid working and a chartered path.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or working towards.
• Experience delivering detailed mechanical design within the UK water sector.
• Strong understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure and pumping stations.
• Experience leading technical project delivery and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of mechanical engineering projects across the full lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership on water and wastewater facilities and mechanical systems.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical governance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients and contractors to deliver sustainable solutions.
