Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an outstanding Lead Practitioner of Mathematics for a rigorous secondary school in York, North Yorkshire. The role covers KS3–KS5 and includes strategic responsibility for whole-department pedagogy.

You will model evidence-based teaching strategies, lead peer coaching sessions, analyze pupil progress data, and prepare high-attaining Sixth Form students for STEP/MAT and national UKMT challenges. This is a full-time, permanent contract starting in January.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with an honours degree.
• Proven history of delivering top GCSE and A-Level/Further Maths outcomes.
• Experience in peer coaching, curriculum design, or KS subject leadership.

Responsibilities

• Teach high-rigor Mathematics across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
• Lead departmental coaching, peer observations and staff development.
• Audit and refine schemes of work to build fluency and problem solving.
• Analyze assessment metrics to implement targeted interventions.
• Prepare Sixth Form pupils for Oxbridge, STEP, MAT and STEM challenges.
• Mentor early-career maths teachers to build confidence across A-Level modules.
