Job summary

Hippo Digital Limited, a Leeds-headquartered digital consultancy, is seeking a Lead Full Stack Kotlin Developer to join our Hippo Herd. You will guide multi-disciplinary squads to deliver user-centred digital services that solve real client problems.

The role combines hands-on coding with technical leadership across Kotlin, Spring Boot, microservices and cloud platforms, with emphasis on scalable architectures, DevOps and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Kotlin and full development lifecycle delivering user-centred digital solutions.
• Proven track record of leading delivery teams to high-quality, scalable solutions.
• Expertise in building back-end services using Kotlin with Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Experience with microservices design and architecture, RESTful APIs and Kotlin-based patterns.
• Proficient in public cloud and DevOps practices, containerisation, and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical SME within the squad to ensure user-centred software is developed per business requirements and best practices.
• Lead collaborative design and delivery of solutions to complex client problems.
• Continuously review and prioritise the delivery team's workload and milestones.
• Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines, resolving bottlenecks and issues.
• Mentor and coach engineers, supporting their professional development and recruitment.
