Job summary

GE Vernova, in the HVDC controls group, seeks a Lead Control and Protection System Application Engineer to join a dynamic team. You will design control and protection functions for LCC and VSC HVDC schemes, mentor colleagues, and translate MATLAB/Simulink models into PSCAD simulations across the full delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent in power systems or HVDC knowledge
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage technical risks
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to clients
• Ability to understand customer requirements and build client relationships
• Familiar with HVDC control, protection, sequencing strategies
• Experience with PSCAD and MATLAB-SIMULINK

Responsibilities

• Define control system requirements and support tendering and after-sales needs.
• Convert MATLAB/Simulink algorithms to PSCAD models.
• Lead technical reviews and identify project risks.
• Perform dynamic performance studies (DPS) and other design studies.
• Mentor others and drive continual improvement in control applications.
• Ensure delivery follows project plans and mitigates technical risks.
