Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer - HV Substation Design (UK & Ireland) to lead design delivery on major energy projects. Hybrid working model with exposure to FEED and detailed design, working with clients such as National Grid and data center operators.

You will produce HV substation layouts, set technical standards, mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and relevant accreditation.
• Experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector.
• Experience designing HV infrastructure at concept and FEED stages.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake project development/pre-construction activities including optimum cable routes.
• Prepare equipment specifications for HV plant and associated equipment.
• Develop specifications with technology specialists and external partners.
• Develop tender specifications and undertake tender evaluations.
• Provide design assurance of tender documentation and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs during construction, support FAT and commissioning.
• Be a trusted partner to key clients.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers.
