Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for HV substation design, based in the UK and Ireland with hybrid working. The role focuses on leading HV projects from concept through energisation, engaging with utilities and developers, and delivering primary plant layouts and specifications for HV equipment.

You will contribute to renewable energy projects and act as Owners’ Engineer on HV/Cable/OHL schemes, collaborating across multiple disciplines and locations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• HV project experience
• Experience with utilities or developers
• Experience as designer or project engineer
• Experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
• Fluency in English
• Experience in technical report writing
• Full driving license and access to a personal vehicle for site visits
• Ideally multi-discipline engineering experience
• Ideally Chartered accreditation or working toward status
• Ideally consultancy experience
• Ideally experience reviewing detailed designs & witnessing construction activities

Responsibilities

• Produce HV substation primary plant layouts and equipment specifications
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects
• Act as Owners’ Engineer on HV substation, cable and OHL projects
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro, wind)
• Deliver professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas
• Collaborate within Transmission and Distribution teams to drive innovation
