Job summary

Arup is seeking a highly experienced leader to deliver transmission cable system designs for major UK projects. You will guide high‑level technical direction, oversee AC/DC, overhead and underground cable work, and drive innovative, cost‑optimised solutions in line with IEC and IEEE standards.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and support tendering while shaping the future of transmission technology at Arup. Hybrid work arrangements are available across the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with Chartered Engineer status is required.
• Experience in HV/EHV transmission cable design is essential.
• Proven track record leading engineering teams and delivering large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and relevant standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and integration of HV/DC cable systems for major transmission projects.
• Define and uphold best-in-class design practices across HVAC/HVDC cable designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in rigorous technical reviews and tender support.
