Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a Principal Highways and Drainage Engineer to oversee the design and delivery of development infrastructure across the UK. The role is hybrid with Christchurch-based offices and involves leading highway and drainage schemes from feasibility through to construction.

An experienced civil engineer with UK experience, you will guide technical approvals, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff toward chartership and professional

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong experience in UK development infrastructure engineering.
• Ideally 5+ years' experience in a UK consultancy, local authority or similar environment.
• Experience delivering highway and drainage designs for development projects.
• Experience with Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 processes.
• Knowledge of UK design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewers for Adoption).
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highway and drainage infrastructure for development projects.
• Develop highway designs supporting technical approval submissions.
• Prepare drainage designs and flood risk assessments.
• Produce and review drainage and highway designs with coordination across teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage projects and workstreams.
• Ensure designs comply with UK standards and authority requirements.
