Job summary

Calibre Search in Leeds is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to own technical delivery of highways and drainage schemes. The role blends office and home working, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, and offers a salary of £43,000–£53,000 plus an 8% pension.

You will lead design work across diverse projects and mentor junior staff. The ideal candidate has a strong highways and drainage background, experience across multiple sectors, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Strong background in highways and drainage design (roads, foul & surface water).
• Experience across multiple sectors (residential, commercial, industrial etc.).
• Ability to produce reports such as Drainage Strategies, FRAs, O&M manuals.
• Confident communicator who can guide and influence others.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Leading the technical delivery of highways and drainage schemes.
• Producing and reviewing drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Supporting and mentoring engineers and technicians.
• Coordinating design inputs and managing workloads.
• Ensuring outputs meet standards, legislation, and best practice.
• Supporting client interaction and contributing to design solutions.
