Job summary

GE Vernova’s Grid Automation R&D team in Stafford is seeking a Lead Application Engineer to bridge power system theory and real‑world algorithm implementation, enabling the global transition to sustainable energy.

The Lead Applications Engineer will create detailed design specifications for protection and control algorithms, perform proof‑of‑concept studies with PSCAD/RTDS/MATLAB, and collaborate with product teams to deliver robust digital substation solutions.

Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Strong and proven experience in protection and control system design and studies.
Experience in developing detailed design specifications for P&C algorithms preferably within a relay manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

To create detailed design specifications for implementation of protection and control (P&C) algorithms.
Proof of concept studies using PSCAD or RTDS or MATLAB/Simulink.
Drive the root cause analysis of the incidents related to the power system protection algorithms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to the algorithm, product, and other customer cases.
