Job summary

GE Grid Solutions is seeking a Senior Lead Control & Protection System Engineer to drive HVDC control and protection design across projects. You will mentor engineers, convert MATLAB/Simulink algorithms to PSCAD models, and perform dynamic studies to ensure robust grid performance.

You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to define requirements, supervise technical reviews, and lead process improvements for faster delivery and higher reliability.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent including power systems and power electronics subjects or proven equivalent knowledge and experience in HVDC business.

Responsibilities

• Define control system requirements for HVDC projects.
• Design and verify HVDC control and protection using PSCAD/EMTP tools.
• Model plant dynamics in MATLAB/Simulink and PSCAD, and verify results.
• Conduct dynamic performance studies and other design analyses.
• Tune protection & control parameters to meet grid stability specs.
• Convert MATLAB/Simulink algorithms to PSCAD models.
• Mentor team members on new control and sequencing strategies.
• Lead continual improvement to tooling, methods, and processes.
• Ensure technical reviews identify risks and results are safe and compliant.
