Job summary

The Sterling Choice is hiring a Lead Engineer for our Scunthorpe site in Lincolnshire. You’ll lead the engineering team, keep production lines running, and drive root cause analysis so recurring stoppages are eliminated.

You’ll manage permits, RAMS and contractor activity, while coordinating with Area Managers. This is shift work (4 on, 4 off) with a strong focus on safety, GMP and staff development.

Qualifications

• Proven engineering experience in food, FMCG or similar fast-paced manufacturing.
• Credible on mechanical and electrical faults, or honest about preference.
• Experience leading a shift team and getting best out of people.
• Confident with permits, RAMS and contractor control.
• Calm and clear under pressure at 3am when lines go down.

Responsibilities

• You’ll lead the engineering team at the Scunthorpe site and keep production lines running.
• You fix issues properly and perform RCA to prevent repeats.
• You oversee handovers, plan with Area Managers, and ensure spares are available.
• You manage permits, RAMS, and contractor activity; log everything on the CMMS.
• Lead from the front and ensure the team rests appropriately.
