Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a flood risk specialist within the Water Consultancy Division. You will Develop hydraulic models to assist flood alleviation schemes, conduct flood risk assessments and reservoir studies, mentoring junior staff as needed.

The role offers a hybrid working policy and opportunities to progress within a global engineering and development consultancy renowned for its impact on communities and environments across the UK and beyond.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering flood risk management studies.
• Experience using flood modelling software (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS or ICM).
• Degree level qualification in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline.
• Good communication and written skills.
• Well organised and able to prioritise your own workload with minimal supervision.
• Understand the importance of prioritising health, safety and environmental issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop hydraulic models using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and ICM to support Flood Alleviation Schemes and Flood Risk Assessments.
• Conceptualise and scope hydraulic modelling approaches.
• Analyse data using ArcGIS, QGIS, Python and Excel.
• Produce and check high quality reports for clients.
• Undertake and check hydrological assessments including FHE, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
• Mentor/training junior staff in hydraulic modelling from scoping to delivery.

Education

Degree level qualification in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline
