Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Flood Risk Specialist to join its Water Consultancy division in the UK. You will deliver flood risk assessments, undertake option appraisals, and prepare business cases.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team across hydrology, geography, economics and civil engineering, developing modelling approaches, reports, and mentoring junior staff while supporting client engagements and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering flood risk management studies and option appraisals in line with guidance.
• Experience preparing business cases for funding and project delivery.
• Degree level qualification in hydrology, geography, economics, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline.
• Good communication and written skills, well organized with good prioritisation.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking and checking economic appraisals to support flood alleviation schemes and reservoir studies.
• Preparing business cases to secure funding for flood risk management.
• Conceptualising and scoping hydraulic modelling approaches.
• Producing and checking high-quality client reports.
• Mentoring junior staff through scoping to delivery.
