Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Flood Risk Engineer to join our Water Consultancy division in the UK. You will contribute to flood risk assessments, economic appraisals, and hydraulic modelling, while guiding junior staff and collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will work within a hybrid model, leveraging our flexible working policy to balance client delivery with professional development. The role emphasizes technical excellence and stakeholder engagement across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering flood risk management studies including option appraisals in line with guidance
• Experience preparing business cases for funding
• Degree in hydrology, geography, economics, mathematics, civil engineering or related field
• Good communication and written skills
• Well organised and able to prioritise workload with minimal supervision
• Understand health, safety and environmental priorities

Responsibilities

• Undertake and check economic appraisals for Flood Alleviation Schemes and reservoir flood studies
• Prepare business cases to secure funding for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management projects
• Conceptualise and scope hydraulic modelling approaches
• Produce and check high quality client reports
• Mentor/train junior staff in flood risk project delivery and opportunities management
