Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Flood Risk professional to join our Water Consultancy Division in the UK. You will contribute to delivering flood risk assessments, model development, and business case preparation for resilient water projects across our client base.

You will work within multi-disciplinary teams, developing your technical and project management skills while supporting clients through scoping, delivery, and risk management frameworks. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering flood risk management studies including option appraisals.
• Experience preparing business cases and securing funding.
• Degree‑level qualification in hydrology, geography, economics, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong communication and written skills.
• Well organized with the ability to prioritise workload with minimal supervision.
• Understanding health, safety and environmental issues.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking and checking economic appraisals to assist Flood Alleviation Schemes.
• Preparing business cases to secure funding.
• Conceptualisation and scoping of hydraulic modelling approaches.
• Producing and checking high quality reports for clients.
• Mentoring/training junior staff and guiding clients through flood-risk projects.
