Job summary

ESB Recruitment has a Nottingham opportunity for an experienced Lead Engineer (Electrical Bias) on a Panama shift, with a £60,000 basic salary plus pension and Bank Holidays. You will lead a shift engineering team, stay hands-on with maintenance and drive reliability to improve production performance.

You’ll mentor engineers, coordinate planned maintenance and fault-find across electrical, mechanical and control systems, while upholding Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP standards on site.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship (time served).
  • Electrically biased engineer with good mechanical competence.
  • Experience with control engineering and fault finding.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience leading or supervising an engineering team.
  • At least 5 years' experience within FMCG manufacturing.

Our client, one of the UK's best‑known food manufacturers, is looking for a hands‑on Lead Engineer to take ownership of an engineering shift within their high‑volume manufacturing site in Nottingham.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll lead the engineering team on shift while remaining hands‑on with maintenance activities.

Responsibilities include:

The role combines technical expertise with leadership and plays a key part in maintaining site performance.

We're looking for someone with:
Essential
  • Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship (time served)
  • Electrically biased engineer with good mechanical competence
  • Experience with control engineering and fault finding
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience leading or supervising an engineering team
  • At least 5 years' experience within FMCG manufacturing
Desirable
  • HNC/HND in Engineering
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • HACCP Level 2
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean experience
This role would suit:

A Senior Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Engineering Team Leader or Lead Engineer looking for greater responsibility within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
