Job summary

TXM Recruit is recruiting a Lead Engineer to join an FMCG manufacturing business in Cheshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Multi‑Skilled Engineer with leadership experience, or someone ready to step into a lead role.

The role involves leading engineering teams on shift, coordinating maintenance activities, ensuring inspections are completed and driving reliability and CI across the shift.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship completed with Level 3 qualification.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience leading, mentoring or supervising engineers.
• Ability to perform under pressure and prioritise workloads.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the engineering team on shift.
• Prioritise planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Ensure PPMs and inspections are completed.
• Support production by minimising downtime and driving reliability.
• Lead handovers and daily engineering reviews.
• Drive CI and RCA activities.
• Coach and support engineers across the shift.
• Promote a strong health & safety culture.

Lead Engineer – Multi-Skilled

Location: Cheshire

Salary: £58,000

Shift: (2 Days / 2 Nights)

Overtime: Paid at 1.25x

The Role

As the senior engineering contact on shift, you will:

• Lead and coordinate the engineering team
• Prioritise planned and reactive maintenance activities
• Ensure PPMs and equipment inspections are completed
• Support production by minimising downtime and driving reliability
• Lead shift handovers and daily engineering reviews
• Drive Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Analysis activities
• Coach and support engineers across the shift
• Promote a strong health & safety culture

Requirements

• Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
• Level 3 Engineering Qualification (minimum)
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills
• Experience working with PLC‑controlled machinery
• Previous experience leading, mentoring or supervising engineers
• Ability to perform under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach

Desirable

• 18th Edition Electrical Qualification
• FMCG, Food Manufacturing or Bakery experience
• Continuous Improvement (CI) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience
