Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join our Energy team. Based in Dublin, Naas, or Belfast, you will help deliver 110kV to 400kV substations and grid upgrades as part of our Net Zero commitments.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams, develop design drawings, specifications, and reviews, with opportunities for career growth and chartership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience on 110kV–400kV substations (AIS/GIS).
• Knowledge of HV/MV standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Produce design drawings for Grid and Primary substations.
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical plant and substation upgrades 110kV–400kV.
• Produce substation design feasibility reports, layouts, GA’s and plant specifications.
• Review designs for compliance with current legislation and policies.
• Ensure designs meet contract requirements and client specs.
• Identify health and safety risks and manage them.
• Attend design reviews and client meetings.
• Perform FATs and site follow-up.
