Job summary

Aker Systems is seeking a Lead Data Platform Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership in designing and evolving secure, scalable data platforms for clients across the public sector and utilities. You will work across cloud-native and distributed platforms, shaping architecture, standards and best practices while mentoring engineers and collaborating with architects, DevOps and client stakeholders.

Experience with Kafka, Spark, AWS/Azure and CI/CD is essential, as is a track record of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Data/Platform Engineering or similar.
• Lead-level experience with complex data platforms and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with distributed data processing and streaming technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and evolution of secure, scalable data platform services and components.
• Design and implement platform capabilities for batch and real-time workloads.
• Build distributed data services using Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, Flink or equivalent.
• Contribute to platform architecture, technical design and standards.
• Mentor Senior Data and Platform Engineers and guide engineering practices.
• Establish reusable patterns and ensure security, reliability and performance.
