Job summary

City of Doncaster Council invites applications for a Cook at the Positive Step Assessment Unit in Doncaster. You will provide nutritious, seasonal meals for 33 service users, with a focus on choice, dignity and safety. Role includes ordering provisions, managing stock and overseeing kitchen operations within budget.

Shift pattern covers seven days, including weekends and bank holidays, typically 07:00–18:00 with flexibility. A Level 2 Food Safety and CPD are preferred; Enhanced DBS is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen and mentoring/supervising kitchen staff is essential.
• A level 2 food safety in catering & evidence of Continued Professional development is preferred.
• An understanding the nutritional requirements of Adults in a health and social care environment, considering their physical, social and emotional needs of the service users.

Responsibilities

• Assess quantity and order all provisions for the kitchen.
• Manage and monitor the kitchen budget to avoid overspend.
• Oversee stock, cleaning schedules and food hygiene records.
• Work with service users to create personalised dietary care plans.
• Ensure health and safety in the kitchen and lead the team.
