Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead highways and drainage design in Luton with hybrid working. You will manage projects, mentor engineers and liaise with clients, authorities and stakeholders to deliver high-profile infrastructure schemes.

The role requires a degree in Civil Engineering, extensive highways experience, and strong knowledge of DMRB and related standards. Chartered status or progression toward Chartership is desirable, with a competitive benefits package and clear

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering highways infrastructure projects within a consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of highways design standards including DMRB and Manual for Streets.
• Experience managing projects and technical teams.
• Client-facing experience and strong communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and project management capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highways and drainage projects.
• Act as technical lead on a range of infrastructure schemes.
• Manage project budgets, programmes and resource allocation.
• Liaise directly with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders.
• Review and approve technical outputs produced by engineers and technicians.
• Mentor and support the development of junior team members.
• Contribute to bid preparation, fee proposals and business development activities.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant design standards and client requirements.
