Job summary

TURNER LOVELL LIMITED seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead end-to-end civil design of electricity substations across the UK from concept to completion. You will oversee drawings, calculations, and specifications for civil structures and infrastructure, coordinating with electrical and structural teams.

The role involves site visits, client meetings, and design reviews, with a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery. Hybrid UK working arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of industry experience, ideally within power transmission, distribution, substations, or related infrastructure in the energy and renewables sectors.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and MS Office; experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles from feasibility through handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with project scope.
• Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
• Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery.
• Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with adjacent disciplines such as electrical and structural.
• Guide and support junior members within the team.
