Job summary

Morson Group in Birmingham is seeking a Principal Building Services Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to lead delivery on high‑profile infrastructure projects across the UK. This permanent role offers senior technical leadership, design assurance and a pathway to director‑level responsibilities.

You will manage multi‑disciplinary teams, develop calculations and specs, maintain compliance with standards, and support bids and business development.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in building-services engineering within a consultancy, contractor or multidisciplinary environment.
• A relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
• Strong experience delivering designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Experience leading engineering packages and coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulations and design practices.
• Excellent communication skills with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical development.
• Chartered status or working towards professional registration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mechanical or electrical building-services designs across complex projects.
• Produce, review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineers and technicians.
• Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers, contractors, clients and other stakeholders.
• Manage technical quality, design assurance and delivery against programme requirements.
• Attend design reviews, client meetings and technical discussions.
• Undertake site surveys, inspections and support delivery within live operational environments.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and wider business development activities.
