Job summary

BEAR Scotland Limited, based in the Southeast Bridges Team, invites applications for a Principal Bridge Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team on bridge maintenance schemes in Scotland. The role requires Chartered status and proven experience in assessment, design and maintenance of highway bridges, with responsibility for safety, environment, commercial and technical aspects.

The successful candidate will manage internal design teams, sub-consultants, and contractors, coordinate design

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE or IStructE.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Proven experience in bridge assessment, design and maintenance.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead outline and detailed design of bridge maintenance schemes, including AIP and design certification.
• Oversee tender documentation and evaluations for schemes.
• Manage financial performance and reporting of individual schemes.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
