Job summary

BEAR Scotland is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our North-West Bridges Team in Perth or Inverness. The role supports a broad programme of bridge maintenance and improvement schemes, with hybrid working between office and remote sites.

You should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, experience in bridge design or maintenance, working towards or holding IEng/CEng, strong communication, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Experience in bridge design or maintenance is preferred (early–mid career).
• Working towards or holding professional membership (e.g. IEng/CEng).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive, team-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design of bridge maintenance and improvement schemes.
• Prepare cost estimates and maintain accurate design records.
• Support project delivery to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
• Update structural records using client systems.
• Assist with contractor coordination and site activities.
• Contribute to risk assessments and health & safety documentation.
• Work closely with colleagues across the Bridges Team.
