Job summary

BEAR Scotland Limited, a leading highway maintenance provider in Scotland, is seeking a Bridge Engineer for our South East team with offices in Bonnyrigg, South Queensferry or Stepps. You will contribute from inspections through to scheme design and delivery on Scotland’s trunk road network.

We seek candidates with a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, bridge design/maintenance experience, and a drive for professional membership (IEng/CEng).

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in bridge design or maintenance (early–mid career encouraged).
• Working towards or holding professional membership (e.g. IEng/CEng).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design of bridge maintenance and improvement schemes.
• Prepare cost estimates and maintain accurate design records.
• Support project delivery to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
• Update structural records using client systems.
• Assist with contractor coordination and site activities.
• Contribute to risk assessments and health & safety documentation.
• Work closely with colleagues across the Bridges Team.
