Job summary

BEAR Scotland Limited is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our South East Bridges Team. The role involves leading bridge engineering schemes and managing budgets, programmes and client relations across Bonnyrigg, South Queensferry or Stepps offices.

You will bring proven bridge engineering experience, leadership skills, and a full UK driving licence to deliver safe, compliant and high‑quality projects for Scotland’s trunk road network.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Significant bridge engineering and project delivery experience.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (CEng/IEng) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of bridge engineering schemes.
• Take ownership of project budgets, performance and programme.
• Manage client relationships and stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee risk assessments and CDM compliance.
• Prepare tender documentation and support procurement.
• Supervise contractors and ensure technical standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and wider team members.
• Ensure environmental and technical requirements are met.
