Job summary

OSB Group is seeking a Lead Engineer (Backend) to provide hands-on technical leadership across Savings squads, driving secure, scalable solutions and architectural consistency across Java backend services and Salesforce components. You will mentor engineers and collaborate with Product Owners, Architects and Delivery Leads across UK and India.

The role offers hybrid working with offices in Wolverhampton, Chatham or London, occasional travel between sites, and a base salary of £65,000–£75,000

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise-scale Java applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple Savings squads, driving engineering excellence and secure delivery across full-stack and Salesforce platforms.
• Lead the design, development and optimisation of scalable, resilient applications meeting business and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and promote engineering best practices including TDD, automated testing, CI/CD and secure software development.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects and Delivery Leads to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions across UK and India teams.
• Mentor and develop engineers, fostering technical capability and continuous improvement.
