Job summary

Socure seeks a hands‑on Manager of Software Engineering to lead scalable backend systems in AWS. You will write code, shape architecture, review designs, and mentor engineers to deliver secure, resilient infrastructure at scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of large‑scale backend systems in production.
• 3+ years of hands‑on technical leadership (Tech Lead or Manager)
• 5+ years of experience with Golang (preferred) and/or Java, with strong CS fundamentals.
• Deep understanding of AWS cloud‑native architectures and services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, RDS, S3) and resilience patterns.
• Proficiency with microservices, API design, and event‑driven systems; containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Strong operational mindset: observability, monitoring, incident response, performance engineering, security best practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and Git‑based workflows.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design scalable, resilient, high‑performance backend systems in AWS, prioritising reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Contribute hands‑on to design reviews, prototyping, coding, performance tuning, and debugging; mentor engineers and set high standards.
• Lead cross‑team technical initiatives; drive design forums, establish guardrails, ensure quality via code reviews and automation.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Platform teams to define scope, milestones, and de‑risk releases.
• Own API and microservice design, including REST and event‑driven patterns and compatibility considerations.
• Advance operational excellence by defining SLOs, improving observability, runbooks, and incident response.
• Solve complex distributed system challenges with pragmatic tradeoffs and clear documentation.
• Foster team growth through clear expectations and diverse talent development.
