Job summary

Capco in Scotland is seeking an experienced Java technologist to design and deliver cloud-native, microservices-based applications. You will work from our Edinburgh office, with potential engagements in Edinburgh or Glasgow depending on client needs.

You should bring expert Java and Spring Boot skills, strong AWS knowledge, and a track record of secure, scalable CI/CD deployments in financial services projects.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Java development experience with Java 11, 17, and 21+.
• Strong Spring Boot proficiency and cloud-native microservices design.
• Experience with AWS and event-driven architectures; CI/CD, SQL/NoSQL, Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Design and build microservices-based applications using Java 11+ and Spring Boot.
• Deliver enterprise cloud solutions focusing on AWS infrastructure and services.
• Build and manage robust CI/CD pipelines with secure, scalable deployments.
• Write comprehensive tests and practice quality-driven development across the stack.
• Collaborate in agile teams and contribute to design decisions and troubleshooting.

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:

• Expert-level Java development experience, including Java 11, 17, and 21+
• Strong Spring Boot proficiency
• Deep knowledge of public cloud environments, preferably AWS
• Experience designing cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines, SQL and NoSQL databases, Kafka, and Java Streaming
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, such as CloudFormation
• Experience with distributed systems and secure design practices
• Bonus points for experience with GitLab for CI/CD pipelines and Cucumber for BDD test automation
• Bonus points for an AWS Certified Solutions Architect qualification at Associate or Professional level
• Bonus points for knowledge of CQRS patterns and performance testing strategies
• Experience delivering customer-facing or business-critical applications in finance
