Job summary

JPMorganChase in the United Kingdom seeks a senior software engineer to lead design, development, and operational stability within AI/ML data platforms. You will influence architectural decisions, drive secure production code, and mentor engineers in a fast-paced financial services environment.

You will champion enterprise AI practices, validate AI outputs for accuracy and security, and partner with product managers to deliver high-impact data-driven solutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Demonstrable strength in a cloud-based engineering environment.
• Advanced Python; additional programming languages are a plus.
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
• Experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption of AI-assisted tools within delivery practices.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Good understanding of databases and data structures
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems
• Practical cloud-native experience

Responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, using approaches that go beyond routine or conventional methods.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit within existing systems and information architecture.
• Provide technical leadership on data projects across engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers.
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Establish consistent validation standards, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing.
• Promote reuse of effective patterns across the team.
• Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve automation value.
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems
