Job summary

Saga Cruises is seeking two experienced 3rd Engineers to join the vessels Spirit of Adventurer and Spirit of Discovery, with embarkation on 10 October 2026. The role carries a rotational contract of 3 months on/off and requires STCW95 and CoC A-III/1, plus extensive shipboard experience.

Responsibilities include maintaining engine room watches, safe operation of main and auxiliary engines, and coordinating with technical parties while ensuring safety, health, and environmental standards aboard

Qualifications

Valid STCW95 certification.
Valid CoC A-III/1.
Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
Extensive experience in subordinate positions and on board passenger ships in a similar role, with preferable experience with Wartsila engines.
Physically and medically fit.
Moral integrity is required.
Public Health, Sanitation, and Environmental training courses are appreciated.
Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and manuals.
Alaska experience is a plus.
It is recommended to have Public Health, Coast Guard, and Port State Control experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe engine room watch whilst the vessel is at sea, at anchor and in port in accordance with Company Policies, standards and regulations.
Execute safe and efficient performance of Main and Auxiliary engines.
Lead safe operations of machinery and equipment, monitoring engine control systems in the engine room.
Execute repair and maintenance work in areas carried out inside and outside of the Engine Room in line with Company Policies and regulations.
Coordinate with different technical parties and departments.
