Job summary

Saga Cruises is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to join the Spirit of Adventure on a contract basis. You will lead the engine, electrical and mechanical divisions, ensuring safe and reliable operation of all systems and equipment, in alignment with company policies and international standards.

The role requires STCW95, CoC A-III/2, strong fault-diagnosis skills, and proven leadership aboard ships. English proficiency and physical fitness are essential; Alaska experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• STCW95 certification valid and up to date.
• CoC A-III/2 valid for engine officers onboard ships.
• Extensive Chief Engineer experience aboard vessels.
• Strong fault-diagnosis and problem-solving abilities.
• Physically and medically fit for shipboard duties.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe and efficient operation of main and auxiliary propulsion and machinery.
• Oversee maintenance of boilers, engines, electrical and associated systems.
• Ensure compliance with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with other ship departments and external technical parties.
• Maintain engine room records, fuel management and spare parts inventories.
