Job summary

AMADA Laser Operator / Setter

Location: Dudley

Temp to Permanent

Split Day / Afternoon Shift

We are recruiting an experienced Laser Operator / Setter to join a well-established sheet metal manufacturing company in Dudley.

The company has recently invested in a new AMADA laser cutting machine and is looking for an experienced operator to join the team and work across a split day and afternoon shift.

This is a temporary-to-permanent position, with a genuine opportunity to secure a permanent role with the company.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for operating and setting the laser cutting machine within a busy sheet metal manufacturing environment.

Duties will include:

• Setting and operating the AMADA laser
• Loading and unloading sheet material
• Selecting and running programmes
• Making machine adjustments where required
• Monitoring the cutting process
• Checking finished components for quality and accuracy
• Working from engineering drawings and job specifications
• Working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
• Identifying and reporting any machine or cutting issues
• Carrying out basic operator maintenance
• Keeping the machine and surrounding work area clean and organised

What We\'re Looking For

We\'re looking for someone with previous experience as a:

• Laser Operator
• Laser Setter / Operator
• CNC Laser Operator
• AMADA Laser Operator
• Sheet Metal Machine Operator

You\'ll ideally have:

• Previous CNC laser cutting experience
• Experience setting and operating laser cutting machinery
• AMADA experience would be a strong advantage
• Experience within a sheet metal or fabrication environment
• Ability to work from engineering drawings
• Good understanding of sheet materials and thicknesses
• Experience carrying out quality checks on finished components
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to work independently

Experience on other laser cutting machines such as Bystronic or Trumpf will also be considered.

Shift Pattern

This position will work across a split day and afternoon shift pattern.

Candidates must therefore be flexible and comfortable working both days and afternoons.
