Job summary

MARS Recruitment is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer for Didcot to develop laser micromachining processes and perform production work on state-of-the-art laser systems spanning UV to IR wavelengths.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in Lasers/Optical Engineering/Physics or Engineering or have 2+ years of industry experience, with hands-on laser experience and knowledge of micromachining, metrology, optical systems, and programming.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous
• Knowledge of laser micro-machining, integration and test of complex laser systems, machine control software or programming, materials science, metrology, microscopes, SEMs, optical systems
• Good computer and IT skills
• Industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers
• Run production work for customers
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems (UV to IR, femtosecond to ns durations) and advanced motion control
