Job summary

Mars Recruitment is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer in Didcot with a background in Lasers, Optical Engineering or Physics. The role focuses on developing laser micromachining processes for customers and running production work on advanced laser systems.

A hands-on, highly skilled scientist is sought to join a fast-growing team in a leading laser micromachining environment. Salary ranges from £30,000 to £41,000 per year with benefits.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous
• Laser micro-machining
• Integration and test of complex laser systems
• Machine control software or programming
• Materials science
• Metrology, microscopes, SEMs etc
• Optical systems
• Good computer and IT skills
• Industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems across UV to IR wavelengths
• Collaborate within a high-performing Laboratory team
