Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd. in Darlington is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5/6 class in a primary setting. The role is on a full-time basis with October 2026 start and offers a competitive daily rate of £90–£100.

The TA will work in a Year 5/6 classroom, assisting with literacy, numeracy, and broader curriculum learning while helping pupils build confidence and independence in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
• Experience in a primary school or Key Stage 2 setting desirable.
• Experience supporting children across Key Stage 2, particularly Years 5 and 6.
• Genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in providing a safe, inclusive, and stimulating Year 5/6 learning environment.
• Support pupils' learning and development across the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
• Assist with engaging whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one learning activities.
• Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum learning.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and positive relationships.
• Promote positive behaviour using consistent, encouraging strategies.
• Adapt activities and resources to ensure all pupils can access their learning.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils' progress.
