Job summary

Academics Ltd is assisting a welcoming two-form entry junior school in Chesham to recruit a Teaching Assistant / HLTA for November 2026. The role focuses on supporting KS2 pupils, promoting inclusion, and helping children overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will support learning across KS2, assist with SEN needs such as ADHD, ASD, and dyslexia, and work with teachers to adapt activities and monitor progress. Role is full-time during term-time with ongoing training.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
• Maths and English skills equivalent to GCSE grades 4-9.
• Experience supporting teaching and learning for primary-aged pupils.
• Experience working with vulnerable children and pupils with additional needs, including ADHD, ASD, or dyslexia.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning across KS2 through individual, small-group, and whole-class activities.
• Support pupils with additional needs, including ADHD, ASD, and dyslexia.
• Adapt learning activities to meet pupils' individual needs and abilities.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and monitoring pupil progress.
• Lead pre-planned lessons where appropriate to HLTA responsibilities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, families, and external professionals.
• Follow safeguarding procedures, school policies, and relevant guidance.
