Job summary

Academics is seeking a diligent Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join a reputable Birmingham school in Handsworth (B21). The role starts end of September 2026 and is full-time.

You will support pupils across Year 3–6, assist the class teacher, and help create a positive learning environment while addressing SEND needs. DBS update service is required and ongoing training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS (must be on the update service).
• Relevant qualifications or experience.
• Willingness to complete relevant training continually when needed.
• Confidence and flexibility in working with Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6.

Responsibilities

• Not only supporting pupils' educational development but also managing and supporting the classroom alongside the designated teacher.
• Creating a positive and engaging atmosphere in the classroom.
• Providing tailored assistance for SEND pupils.
• Monitoring students and reporting to designated teacher when needed.
• De-escalating behavioural conflicts and recognising good behaviour in accordance with the school's policies.
