Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with developmental delays at a local primary school. The role focuses on helping the pupil access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.

You will adapt activities to meet individual needs and work closely with the SEND team to ensure meaningful engagement in lessons, while supporting the pupil's social and emotional wellbeing throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with additional learning needs or SEND.
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents and colleagues.
• Ability to adapt learning resources to individual needs.
• Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis is highly desirable.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil, focusing on academic, social and emotional development.
• Adapt and differentiate classroom activities to meet learning needs and abilities.
• Work with the class teacher and SEND team to enable meaningful lesson engagement.
• Foster confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
• Support the pupil's social and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
